SASKATCHEWAN REDAS
- Regional Economic Development Authorities, or REDAs, were introduced in Saskatchewan's Partnership for Renewal economic strategy in 1992.
- REDAs are a priority for the government and a key component of Saskatchewan's continued economic growth.
- REDAs are a "grass roots" approach to economic development.
- REDAs allow communities and organizations to join together in a co-operative and co-ordinated way to make plans for economic development in their region.
- REDAs allow people and communities to pool their resources and build on their strengths to support the creation of wealth and jobs, and to attract new investment.
- The government provides cost-shared funds to help REDAs form.
- Cost-shared funding is also available to help established REDAs build their service capacity and form partnerships with provincial government departments and the co-operative and private sectors.
